WELCOME
We are delighted to launch the inaugural issue of Aesthetic Medicine Magazine in South Africa, coinciding with our first Aesthetic Medicine Convention. Aesthetic Medicine is well-established and respected in the UK, Ireland, India, Dubai, and Manchester. As part of an international organization that produces Aesthetic Medicine globally, we are excited to introduce this successful model to the South African market.
As publishers and organizers of Professional Beauty magazine and national exhibitions, we are well-positioned to launch another trade publication and supporting exhibition into the market. Our aim has always been to support the professional community by providing a platform for up-to-date news, education, networking, and collaborative connections.
In this, our first issue, we focus on individuality and its emerging dominance within the medical aesthetics landscape. Patients demand to be understood and have their needs met. Doctors must fully grasp the complexity of each individual—including their culture, beliefs, desires, and preferences—and tailor treatment plans accordingly. At the same time, it is crucial to remain realistic about what is achievable. This delicate balance requires careful attention during the consultation process and a clinic approach centered on inclusivity. We have also scouted the market to bring you the latest technological and product innovations that emphasize inclusivity.
In relation to ethnic skin types, we share Dr Ifeoma Ejikeme’s clinical insight on the benefits of hydroquinone as the gold standard for skin brightening and advanced aesthetician Lola Dansu’s advice on how to help patients with darker skin tones treat their post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation at home.
From the latest news to business insights, clinical trials and clinic reviews, our aim is to keep you, the medical professional, informed about industry developments and provide information to help you run a more successful practice. This publication is also aimed to educate professional stomatologists with a special interest in aesthetics or those currently working with a medical doctor.
In this issue, you'll also find the events guide for the convention, including detailed descriptions of key speakers, exhibitors, and workshops. We believe in connection and community and welcome the sharing of information. Please feel free to email info@aestheticmedicinesa.co.za with any news, ideas, suggestions, or feedback. We would love to hear from you.
