Aesthetic Medicine recently had the opportunity to inter view Dr Mark Opperman and delve into the driving forces behind the establishment of his esteemed aesthetic clinic, as well as his passions and vision that continue to shape its trajectory.

With over two decades of experience and a fervent dedication to optimising wellbeing, Dr Opperman’s journey from the corridors of academia to the forefront of integrative medicine has been nothing short of transformative.

After graduating from the University of Pretoria’s Medical School in 1999, he decided to practice Medical Aesthetics in the United States. There, he nurtured a passion for Advanced Integrative Medicine, and, since 2001, has honed his craft, specialising in non-surgical medical aesthetics and functional medicine with a focus on integrative anti-ageing solutions.

At the heart of Dr Opperman’s practice lies a commitment to education and innovation. As a mentor trainer and key opinion leader for The Galderma Aesthetic Injector Network, he imparts his knowledge to aspiring practitioners worldwide. Locally, he leads a cadre of esteemed colleagues in a thought leaders’ group, fostering collaboration among specialists in various fields.

In 2014, Dr Opperman carved a new path with the establishment of the T-Clinic, a pioneering venture dedicated to men’s health, specifically focussing on the effects of low testosterone on health and well-being. What began as a specialised men’s clinic has evolved into a comprehensive centre for sexual wellness, catering to male and female patients, both locally and internationally. Dr Opperman’s work has garnered widespread recognition, earning him invitations to share his expertise on numerous media platforms, including radio and television.

“I established the T-Clinic to address the need for optimal hormone balancing, as many of my patients were experiencing a decline in well-being without receiving adequate answers or effective treatments for their underlying conditions,” he says.

The ethos of his practice is encapsulated in his belief in a holistic, step-by-step approach to patient care. Every individual who walks through the doors of his clinic receives personalised attention, with treatment programs tailored to address their unique concerns and circumstances. For Dr Opperman, hormones are the orchestrators of health, and achieving harmony among them is essential for the symphony of well-being.

In a conversation with Dr Opperman, his passion for holistic well-being – physical, mental and spiritualand his vision for his clinic become palpable. For him, the creation of his clinic was born out of a desire to blend his aesthetic expertise with his dedication to optimising hormone balance, fostering overall health and wellbeing, and ultimately enhancing quality of life. Situated in Bryanston, the clinic exudes the warmth of Dr Opperman’s personality with the professional look of a reputable medical establishment.

“Throughout the last decade, our practice has undergone remarkable transformation, fuelled by our commitment to innovation and patient-centric care, Dr Opperman explains, “In addition to hormone balancing and the optimal use of testosterone, the introduction of biostimulators, such as Poly PLLS, has significantly elevated overall patient satisfaction and augmented existing treatment methods.”

Furthermore, he notes, ‘Intravenous therapies have proven instrumental in enhancing individuals’ sense of wellbeing and enriching their quality of life.’

Reflecting on his years of practice, Dr Opperman emphasises the importance of determining patient expectations and the nuances of facial anatomy. He elaborates, ”In addition to assessing patient expectations, a deep understanding of facial anatomy and the evolving dynamics of aging is essential in planning an effective treatment protocol. Moreover, it is crucial to grasp the unique properties of each product utilised, ensuring optimal placement for superior outcomes.”
